Today, Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA) announced her endorsement of Jeff Bleich for Lt. Governor of California. Rep. Speier is widely recognized as a fierce advocate for women’s rights, and was the first member of Congress to push for fundamental reforms to end the epidemic of sexual assault in the military and on college campuses. The backing from one of Congress’s most respected leaders on education and fearless spokesperson for the #MeToo movement adds to Jeff’s growing base of support from progressive elected officials.
“Jeff has been a true leader on improving California education as Chair of the Cal State University Board, Chair of the Fulbright Board, and someone who has taught in our high schools and universities,” said Congresswoman Speier. “He also has a long track record for standing up for women and doing what’s right to make our workplaces, homes, and neighborhoods safer. Jeff has helped lead national programs to stop domestic violence and youth gun violence. As Lt. Governor, Jeff will keep California pressing forward.”
Jeff Bleich is a lifelong Democrat, a highly respected attorney, educator, and a former senior official for President Obama. He has nearly thirty years of experience uniting people to resolve complex issues. Jeff has led some of the nation’s largest educational and legal advocacy institutions, and served the U.S. and California at the highest levels.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Congresswoman Speier,” said Bleich. “Jackie is a champion for women’s rights, has stood up for victims of sexual assault, fought against sexism in the workplace, and has worked to end discrimination and close the gender pay gap. I am so proud to have the support of Rep. Speier, and look forward to working with her as California’s next Lt. Governor.”
